About this blog

Greetings! My name is William.

By profession, I am a consultant. If you had suggested a few years ago that I would be the proud author of a thriving gardening blog, I would have questioned your sanity! You see, my enthusiasm has always been geared towards technology and sustainability, but gardening? Not so much.

Surprisingly, this is the truth, even if it’s not what you’d anticipate hearing from me.

It wasn’t until I became a homeowner, and with it, inherited a modest backyard garden, that I began to take an interest in cultivating a beautiful and productive green space. Like many city-dwellers, I quickly realized that my garden had a restricted amount of soil, space, and sunlight – three essentials for a thriving garden, or so I believed.

With these limitations in mind, I began pondering how I could succeed in creating a vibrant garden in such a challenging environment. I needed all the help I could get. So, I embarked on a journey of research and experimentation.

Before long, my lifelong passion for technology and sustainability came to the fore. I thought, surely, there must be a way to integrate innovative technologies and sustainable practices into my gardening efforts?

My aim was to create a smarter garden that could make the most of the latest consumer technology to cultivate spaces that were in harmony with nature, rather than working against it. I also hoped that by making my garden more sustainable, I could contribute positively to the environment.

Guess what? I found a way.

I started exploring vertical gardening, hydroponics, companion gardening, composting, and more. Soon, I realized that I could combine my love for technology and sustainability with my newfound appreciation for gardening.

That’s what this blog is all about. I want to share my research and experiences so that together, we can create smarter gardens that leverage cutting-edge technology and contribute to a more nature-positive world.

Here’s what you can expect from Smarter Home Gardens:

  • In-depth articles on innovative gardening technologies and methods like hydroponics, vertical gardening, aquaponics, sustainable gardening, and more;
  • Helpful ‘how-to’ guides to make your garden smarter and more sustainable;
  • Reviews of the latest gardening technology;
  • Research on cost-effective garden maintenance solutions;
  • …and much, much more!

I’m excited to be on this journey, and if it’s something that resonates with you, then you’re in the right place.

I encourage you to reach out via email ([email protected]), or leave a comment on any of the posts. I’m eager to engage with as many people as possible on this topic so that we can continue to learn and grow (pardon the pun) together.
